Search + Find Templates

Search + Find Templates

These activities are perfect if you need a few minutes to finish eating your lunch, put dishes away, or go to the bathroom uninterrupted! Great for ages 3-5.

Every so often I find myself needing a few uninterrupted minutes just to finish something or buy me some time to do a quick task. Not long ago, I figured out that my four year old loves a game! And she loves it even more if she is guaranteed to win.

Initially I started with just the ABC’s, and now have since created a few additional ones to challenge her and give her something new to do, for when she got too good at finding the ABC’s.

It’s simple: choose your template for the search + find activity. Cut out the letters, numbers, or pictures, and then hide them around your living room (or entire house if you need more time!). I usually hide them in plain sight so she doesn’t struggle to find them. If it’s too hard, she’ll give up and it’s no longer fun. Choose a few challenging spots, but nothing impossible for the age of your kiddo.

You can choose how you want the rules to be. You could search for the letters in order (A, B, C) or grab letters as you find them (D, I, Q) and then put them all in order when they’ve all been found. We tend to put them all in order and it helps to see what’s left to find when she’s missing a letter or two!

If you want a “map” to match the letters to as they are found, you can print one set out on plain white paper, and print another set out on a different color paper. Choose one color set to cut out and hide, and the other set leave as is for them to match the letters to as they find them.

We keep the same rules for each of the templates to keep it simple, but it’s totally up to you how you want to play this game with your kiddos!

All of the templates are in black and white to save on ink for your printer.

With Easter just around the corner, this is a great way to practice for those egg hunts!

Happy hunting!
