Acorn Treats

Acorn Treats

Impress your family and friends at Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving with these super cute (and yummy!) acorn treats made with three ingredients. Don’t let the picture fool you–they’re super easy to assemble and such a delight for any table!

Prep time: 10 minutes

Assembly time: 15 minutes

Total time: 25 minutes

Makes 24 acorns

  • 24 Nutter Butter Bites (they have to be the Bites because they’re smaller!)
  • 24 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped
  • 24 mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, to melt
  • Unwrap 24 Hershey’s Kisses and set them aside.
  • Count out 24 Nutter Butter Bites and set them aside.
  • Count out 24 mini chocolate chips and set them aside.
  • Melt about 1/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave. Start with 20 seconds on high, stir, and then continue at 10-20 second increments until your chocolate is melted. This prevents burning (which is a terribly awful smell).
  • Dip the large end of a Hershey’s Kiss into the melted chocolate. Press a Nutter Butter Bite onto the melted chocolate to make your acorn.
  • Dip a mini chocolate chip into the melted chocolate and add it to the top middle of the Nutter Butter Bite, making the “stem.”
  • Set aside to let the melted chocolate set.
  • Repeat until all of your acorns are assembled.
  • If you’re making these ahead of time, store in an airtight container for up to 7 days.
  • Keep your chocolate nice and melted otherwise they start to look a little sloppy and the “pieces” can fall off easier.

The first time I made these was several years ago, when Pinterest was just becoming a thing, and I brought them to my extended family’s Thanksgiving. The ‘ooh’s’ and ‘oh my gosh HOW CUTE’s’ were plentiful. They are a very cute addition to any table and even better that they’re edible.

I’m bringing them again this year as well as giving some out to friends as a little treat (always make sure no one has a peanut allergy!) with a little handwritten note of gratitude for our friendship.

This is also a nice alternative to pie and is actually why I decided to make them in the first place. I am not a huge fan of pie (I know, I know), so this was my after dinner treat instead of having pie.

I also like that these are so little, so one is enough if I’m too full from Thanksgiving dinner or I can have a couple without feeling overly stuffed.

Whether you like pie or not, these are a fun little appetizer or dessert to share this time of year.

Wishing you the happiest Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Until next time,
