Number Tracing Worksheet

Number Tracing Worksheet

Have your little one practice writing numbers with the “Say-Trace-Write” method using this easy-to-follow worksheet. Made in grey tones for easy printing!

Lately my almost-four-year old has been crushing her writing, so this week we are pivoting from letters to work on learning to write numbers. Since she’s still a little wobbly with a pencil, we’ll still do some line tracing first to warm her up.

Since incorporating the line tracing, I’m already noticing a huge improvement and confidence boost with her writing! These are my favorite line tracing activities for pencil control, and I’m sure there are plenty more you can find on Pinterest or with a quick Google search.

I also recently learned that have them use broken crayons to write helps with fine motor skills and forces them to hold it more like how they should be holding a pencil, according to an occupation therapist. I haven’t personally tried it with Viv, but it totally makes sense to me after hearing it.

You’ll find this activity in the same style as the letter tracing activities I previously shared. I really like the “Say-Trace-Write” method for Viv because identifying it first gets her mind ready, tracing gives her a practice run for how to write and which way to draw the lines, and then finally writing it on the dotted lines before we eventually move on to her trying it herself. I think this method helps build confidence. Like the training wheels before free-writing on their own.

Below is a downloadable PDF version so you can also print your own to do with your kiddo. As per usual, if you prefer to have a link, there is one below the PDF to my Canva account, totally free also.

I hope you enjoy this week’s activity! If you’re looking for more to do with your kids, be sure and check out the Toddlers + Kids section of the blog, or use the search bar for the tag “Daily Activity.”
