Rather than buying a packet at the store, make your own that tastes better and lasts longer! One batch makes about 6 meals, and can be made with spices you likely already have in your cabinet.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Makes about 1/2 cup

- 3 Tablespoons chili powder
- 2 Tablespoons garlic powder
- 1 Tablespoon paprika
- 1 Tablespoon onion powder
- 1 Tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 Tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 Tablespoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon black pepper

- Combine all ingredients and shake, stir, or whisk to combine.
- Use immediately or store for later in an airtight container.
I’ve really gotten into making my own specialty spices rather than buying them at the store. Not only is it more cost effective, they aren’t filled with extra preservatives and junk ingredients that really don’t serve a purpose other than keeping a longer shelf life.
This one is true to servings and makes a half cup. If you wanted to make and store less, simply cut it in half.
Enjoy!
