Cranberry Jalapeno Dip

Cranberry Jalapeno Dip

I tried this recipe on a whim looking for a dip to serve on Christmas Day while watching football and it did NOT disappoint! The tart with the spicy and the touch of sugar will have you devouring this dip and having others begging you to share the recipe.

*Best if made the night before, but can be made a couple hours before serving*

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Chill Time: 12 hours

Makes a pie plate, enough for about 32 servings

  • 12 oz fresh, uncooked cranberries
  • 1/4 cup green onion
  • 1-2 fresh jalapeno peppers
  • 2 Tablespoons cilantro (optional)
  • 3/4 – 1 cup sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 16 oz whipped cream cheese
  • Use a food chopper (if you have one) to chop the cranberries. Also chop green onion, jalapeno peppers, and cilantro.
  • In a medium sized bowl, add all chopped ingredients and sugar, lemon juice, and salt and stir until blended.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and place in fridge overnight to let flavors come together. If you are making it on the fly, try and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
  • Stir all the ingredients together again and strain out the juice.
  • Whip the softened cream cheese with a hand mixer until smooth (about 2 minutes) and spread cream cheese over the bottom of a pie plate or a 9×9 dish.
  • Pour cranberry mixture on top of cream cheese and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Use a spoon to spread over Ritz crackers.
  • The first time I made this dish I didn’t know until I was already making it that the cranberry mix had to sit in the fridge overnight. I made it anyway. It was still really good. It’s definitely more flavorful if you let the cranberry mixture sit for the flavors to come together, but if you’re short on time it will still be good.
  • Using Ritz crackers, or a version of them (I like the snowflake shaped ones for the holidays) truly is the best cracker with this dip.

I dare you not to eat half the dish yourself if you’re sharing with others. And if you’re not sharing, you’ll probably eat the whole thing. It’s addicting in the best way possible! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
